POSITION DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Bilingual (Spanish) Advocate Reports to: Executive DirectorHours per week: Full-time Work schedule: M-F days; some evening and weekend work requiredSalary: $16 - $18 / HourTHIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION BASED IN NORTH MASON COUNTY, BELFAIR, WABenefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. SUMMARY:Provide advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence (DV) and sexual assault (SA) in North Mason County, Belfair WA. Work closely with Turning Pointe’s Shelton-based staff and program partners, including community/civic organizations and law enforcement, in ensuring the delivery of culturally appropriate services for Turning Pointe’s clients. Perform crisis intervention and ongoing advocacy in person and over the phone. Lead community outreach and engagement activities in support of Turning Pointe’s strategic plan.DUTIES:Advocacy: The Bilingual Advocate is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:Remain knowledgeable of Turning Pointe’s SA/DV advocacy guidelines and procedures so proper, trauma-informed decisions and support are made regarding survivor advocacy.Provide general advocacy, crisis intervention counseling, safety planning and wrap-around services to clients. Provide group facilitation as required for DV/SA survivors.Work with all clients and Turning Pointe staff in culturally responsive and respectful manner at all times.Coordinate with other DV/SA and social services organizations throughout Mason County to enhance client support and services. Provide appropriate information and referral resources to Turning Pointe clients.Recommend enhancements to Turning Pointe’s policies and procedures to improve client safety, shelter housing, and advocacy plete all reports and data entry as outlined and required by grantor(s).Community Relations and Outreach: The Bilingual Advocate is responsible for initiating community outreach activities and building positive community relations, including but not limited to the following:Maximize community awareness of Turning Pointe and its mission. Participate and provide leadership in representing the voices of survivors in the community, through professional networking, group presentations, community awareness events, and, in direct services to clients.Fulfill outreach and community engagement objectives as required by the Executive Director to increase Turning Pointe program and services awareness in North Mason County.Maintain and assist in the on-going development of bilingual, culturally appropriate resources. Minimum Education Requirements and Desired Qualifications:High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Experience in crisis intervention and/or domestic violence advocacy a plus.One year’s experience providing crisis intervention, SA advocacy, and or DV advocacyBilingual/bicultural in Spanish and English.Working knowledge of local and WA state social services.Able to actively and empathetically listen to DV/SA survivors in crisis situations.Ability to work respectfully with diverse populations using Turning Pointe’s Mission Statement and philosophy. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information properly.Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and general data entry, report generating software.Excellent oral and written communication skills including writing reports, creating presentations and public speaking.Reliable transportation is required, must have current Driver’s license and insurance Undergoing a Washington State Background Check is a pre-employment requirement.Preferred Work Experience:Demonstrated understanding of and training in DV/SA advocacy is a plus. Specific knowledge, experience and demonstrated abilities must include the following.?Ability to complete detailed work data entry reporting accurately and quicklyProficiency with creating audience-specific presentations as needed and experience with public speaking in front of small and large audiences.?Ability to effectively handle multiple task and prioritize effectively.?Ability to work independently and as a team.Domestic Violence Training Requirements20 Hour Core All volunteer and paid staff must complete a?minimum of twenty hours of live/in person Core Training before providing services to clients and/or their dependent children.Ongoing Training- Based on date of hire advocates and staff supervisors must obtain an annual minimum of twenty hours of continuing education training beginning in their second year with the domestic violence agency, and in every year thereafter.A minimum of ten hours must be live training on topics specifically focused on serving victims of domestic violence and their children.The remaining ten hours of training may be satisfied through self-study on topics specifically focused on serving victims of domestic violence and their children.Sexual Assault Training Requirements*30- Hour Core All volunteer and paid staff must complete within three months of hire.Ongoing – All qualified staff providing core services are required to receive 12 hours of WCSAPapproved ongoing training. Ongoing training must be completed in the fiscal year afterthe staff, volunteer, or supervisor has completed their initial training requirement.Ongoing training is an annual requirement.Employee Signature:___________________________________ Date:_______________ ................
