On August 16, 2005 the Columbus Board of Education approved two policies that, when implemented, will help to ensure a positive climate for learning in all our schools. This policy is also intended to promote a positive school and classroom atmosphere, enhance decorum, eliminate disturbances and minimize distractions to students and staff. All clothing and accessories shall be within the bounds of decency and good taste and appropriate for school. Clothing shall be sufficient to conceal undergarments at all times. The principal shall have the authority to further define dress code requirements for their individual school. The administration may prohibit the presence of any apparel, jewelry, accessory or manner of grooming which, by virtue of its color, arrangement, trademark, or any other attribute denotes membership in such a group.
