Ms. Buckler, Art Teacher? 273058890Jump Rope For Heart Events - Guilford Elementary School will be holding its annual Jump Rope for Heart events to raise money for the American Heart Association.? All students are welcome to participate regardless of jumping or fund raising ability.? Come and join Mrs. Wolter and Ms. Hancock for this fun filled adventure as our students explore over ten different jumping stations.? Kindergarten and first grade will jump on Thursday, January, 22nd and students in second through fifth grade will jump on Friday, January 23rd.? Both events are held on early dismissal days and run from 12:55 - 3:00 p.m.? All students must have transportation home or permission to walk home (if they are walkers.)? We are always in need of volunteers for these events too.? If you're interested in volunteering fill out the bottom portion of the pink permission slip.? During this event Moms and Daughters will attend workshops, participate in fun movement activities, and work collectively with other mothers as well as their own child to build relationships. We are inviting Mothers an Legal Guardians only to come and enjoy a free night of fun and bonding.? As we forge forward into 2015, students should be talking to their families about what is being learned in school. We encourage you to read with them at least 4 times per week and remember to log your minutes on the reading log every night. As for math, practice you math facts at least 4 times a week. Students should also be doing their homework each night and ask for help when needed. Together, we WILL accelerate student learning! DATE CHANGE FOR THE GES BOOK CLUB……… Our first GES book club originally scheduled for January 7, 14, and 21st has been rescheduled. The new dates will be March 9, 16, and 23rd. Invitations will be distributed to those students involved.Healthy Eating Initiative – Strive for Five for the month of January! Students have been given a healthy eating log to keep track of their fruit and vegetable servings each day for the month of January. ? Students are being encouraged to Strive for Five servings of fruit and vegetables a day including breakfast, lunch and dinner. ?Students who turn in their completed logs will receive a prize. ?Go Healthy Eating!Guilford’s -6286539370January is Reading Month and a great month to begin our reading incentive. This year’s incentive will run from January through March. As students read for at least 20 minutes each night they can record the title of what they have read on their Reading Log. They need to record 20 nights of reading or 20 books to reach their goal. They will return their logs, signed by a parent, to their teacher to earn a Pizza Hut certificate.
