Nurse aides can still work at nursing homes while waiting for testing opportunities

GovDelivery message sent on Feb. 10 informing providers, training programs, and testing sites that nurse aides are still able to work under 1135 waiver while awaiting test opportunities:

Currently, there are two options for nurse aides to work in nursing homes for people who are not on the Nurse Aide Registry:

? Nursing aides can work at a nursing home after they have completed their Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) training.

? Also, the Federal 1135 waiver allows nurse aides to work at Federally-certified nursing homes.

While testing is starting in Minnesota, nursing aides can continue to work in Federally-certified nursing homes until they complete testing. We appreciate the work nurse aides provide to residents throughout Minnesota and the Federal 1135 waiver will help aides until they can schedule a test to become a member of the Nurse Aide Registry.

Nurse aides can still earn credit for training and work experience towards a Nurse Aide Training and Competency Program (NATCEP) while working in a nursing home. Please refer to these documents below for additional information:
