Role Summary The role will be held by a researcher capable of assisting with research projects in the area of cognitive neuroscience and specifically using EEG.

Job Purpose The researcher will work as a research assistant on an exciting project in the Jones, Silas, & Ward Lab using behavioural and EEG methods to investigate the effect of rhythmic presentation of stimuli on memory. The primary role of the post holder will be to assist with recruitment and data collection. The researcher will have the opportunity to be involved in data analysis and the dissemination of findings as journal articles and conference presentations.

Main responsibilities:

Research and knowledge transfer ? Manage participant recruitment and data collection using controlled behavioural tasks and EEG ? Undertake data input and quantitative analysis (behavioural and EEG) ? Liaise with the project team internally to support the delivery of the research project, including attendance at lab meetings and individual meetings ? Assist in the preparation of Ethics Committee applications ? Continually update own knowledge in the field of specialism ? Carry out other tasks which may be necessary from time to time appropriate to the post

Administration ? Support the Lead Researcher with the coordination of research activity, as agreed ? Provide administrative support to the project to include but not limited to note taking, organisation of events and dissemination of information

Leave:

35 days per annum plus eight Bank Holidays and seven University days taken at Christmas (pro rata for part-time staff) which may need to be taken as time off in lieu.

Flexibility: Please note that given the need for flexibility in order to meet the changing requirements of the University, the duties and location of this post and the role of the post-holder may be changed after consultation. The balance of duties may vary over time and will be reviewed as part of the appraisal process.

Essential requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

? BSc (upper second class or above) and MSc (or working towards an MSc) in

Psychology, Neuroscience or a related discipline

? Experience of working in a lab-based environment and use of EEG recording

equipment

? Experience of recruiting and testing participants using controlled experiments

? Understanding of quantitative research methods and research design

? Proven computer literacy in standard Office software applications as well as data

analysis software (e.g., SPSS)

? Evidence of work directly relevant to supporting the production of research reports

within an academic environment

? Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally

? Ability to work independently and as part of a team, both under supervision and

under own initiative

? Ability to organise and coordinate a number of activities simultaneously

? Demonstrable commitment to the fairness and the principles of equality and inclusion
