EARN Meeting NotesSeptember 12th, 2018Opening remarks- Benton Shirey Retention Numbers- Dr. Gill HunterDr. Hunter shared current Fall 18 Retention stats as of 8/27/18Overall New Freshmen Retention- 67.4% (69.0% for Fall 16 cohort)Under Represented Minority -72.2% Low Income- 64.8%Additional subpopulation and College Specific retention rates attached. 2nd & 4th week Progress Reports- Matt Schumacher2nd Week and 10th Week Progress reportsNow that MAT 112A/B is offered as a partial semester course, check 2nd and 10th week progress reports on students enrolled in these courses. 4th Week Progress Reports-Matt Schumacher announced that 4th week progress reports will be available after September 17th. Faculty have between September 12th and 17th to enter progress reports on their class rosters Honors Advising Update- Katie Patton Honors Program recruiting Sophomores. As long as a student can complete 18 credit hours before graduation in Honors courses they can complete the Honors program and graduate as an Honors Scholar. Qualifications attached:GPA between 3.8-4.0Students that applied as a freshman but did not get in can still apply as a Sophomore. College Readiness Standards- Heather Davis Review of Placement Chart (Attached)Updates from College Readiness and Testing:Bridge Program Update: Bridge program, currently it will look very different during Summer 2019 since there will be no more remedial courses offered during summer and students will not be admitted if they do not meet admission standards. Student Learning Agreement for Fall 2019: Students admitted with a 2.0-2.49 high school GPA will be required to complete a Learning Agreement at Summer Orientation. ENG 101R and MAT P courses : In Spring 2019, students that did not complete ENG 101R will be permitted by override to take ENG 101R along with the Math courses so that they can satisfy remedial courses and move forward in a timely manner.ENG 102R: Students enrolled in ENG 101R and who have completed the course with either a “B” or “C” are required to take ENG 102R, and students completing ENG 101R with an “A” can take ENG 102 (the course without the support).Advising Resources Online- Tiffany Hampton Advising Landing Page: Student FAQ page (with video) moved to Student Advising Resources: Advisor FAQ and Abbreviated EARN Notes are now available under the Faculty Advising website EAB Tracking 100 Students to Graduation- Benton Shirey Benton Shirey shared a handout received from EAB on the tracking of 100 Students to graduation (a representation of a typical cohort of students)25 dropped out12 are still enrolled at 6 years. 28 graduated but are underemployed35 graduated and are working in a position requiring a Bachelor’s Degree. Benton encouraged advisors to focus on the 25 students that dropped out and 12 that are still in school at 6 years. It is essential to ensure students are taking the required courses for their major and helping them to stay on track and moving to graduation. Meeting Concluded at 10:17 AM ................
