1. Graduate Enrollment, Fall Snapshot
Notes on Data:
Data from enrollment census taken by the Office of Institutional Research at the Fall add/drop date of the given year. Only Graduate College-administered master's and doctoral degrees are included. MD students are not included.
Certificate of Graduate Study students are not included in the main sections and are only included in the certificate-specific section 1.14.
Accelerated Master's students are only included in the main sections once fully matriculated into the Graduate College. Accelerated Master's students in the undergraduate phase of study are only included in the AMP addendum to this book.
Prior to 2018, a data transfer issue interfered with the transfer of ethnicity and race data from graduate applications to the official UVM system, causing undercounting. Only the new, reliable data is presented here, however estimates of historical ethnicity data can be provided upon request.
In Area of Study breakdowns, the Areas for programs are defined by the Council of Graduate Schools Taxonomy and the CIP code associated with the program. Because Biological & Agricultural Sciences covers a wide range of UVM programs, breakdowns of its two subcategories, Agriculture, Natural Resources & Conservation, and Biological & Biomedical Sciences, are included. See appendix.
Professional vs. Research/Scholarship designation was decided by Dean Forehand--please note if a program is mis-categorized. See appendix.
Programs which had graduate students in any year between 2011 and 2020 are included. Some programs listed have been discontinued, or have enrolled students but are not open for admissions.
