San Bernardino Valley College Nursing Program PolicyChallenge/Advanced Placement for Military Education and ExperienceBackground:CCR 1418. Eligibility for Licensure of Applicants who have Military Education and ExperienceAn applicant who presents with relevant military education and experience, and who presents documentation with a board-approved registered prelicensure nursing program of equivalency credit evaluation that provides evidence of meeting, in whole or part, the minimum standards for competency set forth in Section 1443.5 and minimum education requirements of licensure listed pursuant to Sections 1426 (c)(1) to (3), utilizing challenge examinations or other evaluative methods, will be considered to meet, in whole or part, the education requirements for licensure.Recommendations:Individuals who present with relevant military education and experience equal to but not limited to Basic Medical Technician Corpsman (Navy HM or Air Force BMTCP), Army Health Care Specialist (68W Army Medic) or Air Force Independent Duty Medical Technician (IMDT 4N0X1C) are eligible for advanced placement into the second semester of the SBVC nursing program with documentation of education and experience qualifying them licensure as registered nurses. Information regarding evaluation and granting equivalency credit is available on SBVC nursing website. Appointments are scheduled with nursing program director and nursing counselor.Procedure: The granting of credit for military education and acquired knowledge by providing opportunity to obtain credit will be by the following methods: DD Form-214 demonstrating honorable military discharge.Satisfactory completion of relevant military education and experience within the last two pletion of Associate Degree Nursing Program general entrance requirements, including science prerequisite courses within five years, general education courses for the nursing major and passing score on assessment testing.Submission of official transcripts with syllabi of relevant military education program and clinical experience demonstrating satisfactory completion of coursework and clinical experience.Availability of materials for course challenge such as course syllabus with course objectives, content outline, textbook list, types of test items, format of examination and testing, and critical elements. Satisfactory level of achievement on challenge examinations or other evaluative methods to validate achievement of course objectives such as;Skills competency evaluation (clinical courses)Written challenge exams for Fundamentals and Beginning Medical Surgical coursesDosage calculation exam ................
