APPLYING TO COLLEGE: 2018-2019

Go to ontariocolleges.ca

i) Set Up Your Account:

1. Click on “Apply” button (at top right of screen beside “Log In”)

2. New User - type in all of the information including Legal Last Name, Legal First Name, Date of Birth

- record the email you entered here: ______________________________________

(Your email becomes your username for logging in in the future)

- create password

- record the password you entered here: __________________________________

- be sure to select a response to all 3 password recovery questions

- by clicking ‘create’ you are agreeing to terms and conditions

3. You will see the “Account Created” message and then will be required to activate your account. An activation link will be sent to the email address you provided. Click on the link sent to you.

4. “Log On”: Sign in here (Login with the username (email) and password you recorded above)

5. You need to accept the Privacy Statement

6. Email Communications – choose your preferred settings then click Select

ii) Now you are on the Applicant Dashboard and you need to fill in the required fields in each of the following

headers. Be sure to click “Save and Continue to Next Step” at the bottom of each page:

Click ‘Start Your College Application’ when you are ready to begin:

• Personal Information

• Contact Information

• Authorized User (you can add your Guardians as an ‘Authorized User’ if you want them to be able to access your application information); or, click on “No Authorized Users To Add”

• Citizenship and Residency

• Education: Click “Add Canadian High School Education”

(You will be asked for your O.E.N. (Ontario Education Number) AND Student Number which can be found on your status sheet, transcript, or report card)

• Financial Support (usually “no sponsorship”)

• Experience (add any “Job Experience” (include co-op placements), “Test Information” or “Other Activities” you have participated in that are relevant to the program you are applying for OR click “No Experience to add” box)

iii) Now You Can Apply:

1. Click “I want to start college between Aug. 2019 and July 2020”

2. Click “Add a Program” to enter a Program Code or Program Title.

OR

Enter a College Name and click “Search” to see all program options at that school; then “Add”.

3. Repeat step #2 for up to 5 program choices. ***Note: you may choose up to 3

programs at one college and select 2 other programs at other colleges, or any other number of combinations***

4. On the “Program Choices” page, use the arrows beside program choices to rank your program choices. You can also “Delete” or “Edit” choices to the right of the program title

5. When you have finished entering all of the programs you wish to apply for, and they are listed in the order of your preference, click “Save and Continue”

6. On the “Basis for Admission” page, select “yes” for both prompts

7. On the “Payment Summary” page, review your program choices. If your

selections look correct, click on “Complete Order”. Enter your credit card information as directed.

Will be made through the Applicant Dashboard; check regularly for messages!

NOTE: Your marks will be sent electronically as long as you are an Eastview student in first semester. If you wait until next year to apply, and are not a student at Eastview at that time, you are responsible for your transcript being received by OCAS. (You can also request the transcript electronically through the OCAS website)

Remember:

1. Your application is not valid unless you have paid the fee (credit card is recommended)

2. You must apply by Feb. 1, 2019 for equal consideration; however, many programs are now giving priority to applications completed ahead of this date

3. It is still possible to apply after Feb. 1, 2019, but many of the programs may be full

4. Some program applications may also require a portfolio, a personal essay, or both

5. Certificate, Diploma, Degree – Note the differences in these credentials; also pay attention to

which campus offers which courses

6. Keep this page, with your username and password, in a safe place!
