INTRODUCTION TO OFFICIATING COLLEGE FOOTBALLOregon High School – Oregon, WISaturday, March 28, 2020Introduction to College Football Officiating will be a one-day clinic intended to provide an overview of officiating college football and encourage officials to pursue officiating at the NCAA DIII level. Presenters for the clinic will be area football officials/supervisors who currently officiate/assign at the DI and DIII levels. Topics covered will include:Overview of rule differences between Federation and NCAA.Mechanics differences between five and seven-person crews.Description of the game day experience for a typical DIII game.How to effectively use video and study rules.Traits of an effective crew member.Getting hired and moving up in college football.Participants will receive a current NCAA Football Rule Book. A box lunch will be provided. When: Saturday, March 28; 9:00 am-3:30 pmWhere: Oregon High School-Oregon, WIWho: Any aspiring official interested in officiating college football.Sponsors: Midwest Football Officiating Alliance (MFOA)Registration:Deadline is March 21. _______________________________________________________________________________________About the Midwest Football Officiating Alliance-DIII: The MFOA oversees all football officiating issues for four NCAA DIII collegiate conferences located in the Upper Midwest. Those conferences are the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), Midwest Conference, and Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC). The Alliance has a staff of 175 officials who officiate approximately 195 games each season. The MFOA is under the umbrella of the Collegiate Officiating Consortium (COC) which oversees officiating for the Big Ten, MAC, and Missouri Valley Conferences. Bill Carollo is the Coordinator of the COC and MFOA. John O’Neill (Chicago) and Tom Fiedler (Eau Claire) are Assistant Coordinators for the MFOA and oversee all staffing, assigning, and supervision issues for the Alliance. In the email, registrants should include their mailing address, telephone number, and the position normally worked in football. Directions to Oregon High School, location of the meeting rooms, and the agenda will be provided as the date of the clinic approaches.The registration deadline is March 21. ................
