West Side is offering a specialized, ten-week internship to help you discover your calling and gifting, during which you will have the opportunity to lead youth into a deeper relationship with Jesus. The purpose of this internship is to cultivate your leadership and service abilities as we serve and love our youth students together. This significant ministry internship will give you ample exposure into practical, and theological, leadership.Internship DescriptionEducational development:Every week you will be required to engage with a variety of theological, leadership oriented and spiritually relative devotionals. After finishing the reading, you and the youth staff will discuss these books while writing a brief personal belief summary on each topic. You will then implement those ideas and concepts into practical application. Relational development: Relationships are paramount in ministry. While serving as an intern with us, you will be encouraged to build relationships with students, in order to build them into mature disciples who are reaching their world for Christ.Ministry development:As an intern you will be asked to participate in and lead a variety of ministry related activities, every Sunday and Wednesday. These will include, but are not limited to, leading bible studies, leading an participating in discipling students into a deeper relationship with Jesus, helping to plan and execute worship services with our students, leading service projects, and participating as a leader in a mission trip and a summer sports camp.Partnered development: Throughout the summer, you will be responsible for being driven to complete tasks and readings by yourself, as well being responsible to partner as a team with another intern. This internship is offered to only two individuals and the ability to work well together is essential. Service development: You will often be asked to serve by doing many tasks at once. Some of these jobs are not exciting and may be menial, but menial jobs are a reality of ministry. We are looking for people who have an “I love to serve!” mentality.ExpectationsThroughout the summer you will interact with the entire West Side staff, but will be reporting to the Youth Director and Assistant Youth Director. Base salary: your pay rate, payable by West Side Church, will be in the amount of $250.00 a week for up to 10 weeks. Paychecks are generated on every other Monday of the month. Your first paycheck for this position will be issued based on your start date. You will also receive an additional $200.00 professional expense account for your use in ministering to students.Benefits: Employee benefits, including paid vacation and sick leave, are not included in this summer internship compensation package. You will be responsible for obtaining and financing any medical, dental or other benefits you may deem personally necessary during the period of this agreement.Internship dates: The internship will begin June 10th and will conclude August 18th.
