CLASS OVERVIEW

The purpose of this course is to provide an additional opportunity to recover credits that have been denied. Credits can be denied for any student who (1) receives a grade of less than 70% for the semester (2) passed a class but did not meet attendance requirements to receive the credit.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students are assigned different courses based on which classes need to be recovered. This is a SELF-PACED course. Which means you will move through the program as fast as the effort you put in. Students have access to this program 24/7 with electronic devices that can connect to the Internet.

CLASS ROUTINES AND PROCEDURES

BE PREPARED: Have materials ready for class. Materials include journals, sharpened pencil and/or pen.

BE PROMPT: Show up to class on time and ready to begin working on the Edgenuity program.

BE PRODUCTIVE: Utilize class time wisely and remain on task. Ask questions when you need help!

BE POLITE: Respect the classroom environment.

BE POSITIVE: Enter class with an “I can and will do” attitude.

CLASS EXPECTATIONS

ATTENDANCE

Attendance is mandatory! This is self-paced class, so missing class means that you jeopardize completing the course and recovering credit. Attending class is not optional; poor attendance is will not be tolerated.

JOURNALS

Students should take notes daily in their journals or by using the Edgenuity program. You must take notes for each course that you are completing on Edgenuity. Refusal to do so means you will not be able to ask for “checks” on quizzes, tests and cumulative exams.

AFTER SCHOOL CREDIT RECOVERY

Students are encouraged to work outside of class time to ensure courses are completed in a timely manner. There will be after school opportunities Monday – Thursday from 4:15 pm to 6:00 pm in R105 and on Saturdays during designated Saturday Instructions from 8:00 am to 12:00pm in R105.

CHECKS

After a failed Pre-Test, students will be required to watch a video lecture allowing students to take notes and earn checks on their quizzes, tests and cumulative exams. Students must show proof of note taking for the unit. There will be no checks for PRE-TESTS.

CONSEQUENCES

When class expectations and procedures are broken or unacceptable, conduct occurs the following steps will take place:

1. Verbal Warning

2. Seat Change

3. Hallway Conference

4. Parent Contact

5. Office Referral

6. Request Parent/Teacher Conference
