Class Plan – English IV: FL College Prep

Requirements: You will need a Duo-Tang folder or three- ring binder (a small one) with four dividers. The dividers will be labeled Journal, Notes, Reading Log, and Vocabulary. There will be periodic random notebook checks.

Course Description: This course incorporates reading and writing study through writing a variety of informative text using grade-level writing craft and through the in-depth reading and analysis of informational selections in order to develop critical reading and writing skills necessary for success in college courses. This course prepares students for successful completion of Florida college English courses. The benchmarks reflect the Florida College Competencies necessary for entry-level college courses and are also related to the College and Career Readiness (CCR) anchor standards, the exit standards of Florida’s K -12 Common Core Standards.

Rules: I do not believe in making a bunch of rules for adults, although a class expectations sheet will be handed to you in the coming week. Nonetheless, you will behave like an adult, and you will be treated like one. Approach this class as you would a job: show up every day, do you work, and you get paid. Your payment is high school diploma.

Suggestion/Reminder: Enjoy your senior year, it’s supposed to be special. Enjoy it too much, and you get to do it again next year!!
