NoHow much instructional time is required per week per credit for a distance course in this program?What percentage of the program will be offered in the distance education format?Narrative:Prepare a narrative that describes the proposed academic program change, its educational and career objectives, and its relationship to existing programs at Cornell, in New York State, and in the nation.? In general, proposals should be academically sound, structurally feasible, and institutionally warranted.? Comment on the proposed program’s intellectual and pedagogical relevance to students and to the academy.? Discuss the availability of faculty, facilities, and other support services; special admission and course requirements; plans to recruit and retain students (especially those from historically underrepresented groups, and women); and provisions to ensure that each student has adequate instructional support needed to complete the program requirements.? Estimate the projected student enrollment over time, and indicate the preferred beginning date of the program (i.e., enrollment date).[1] Student Enrollment and Funding:Describe the projected student enrollment over time and indicate the sources and amounts of funding for those students for the duration of their degree programs.? Please address all costs associated with student enrollment (internal and external fellowships, assistantships, stipends, and financial aid) for both domestic and international students).Staffing and Operations:Comment on the need for additional staff, space and/or financial resources relevant to the implementation of your proposal and describe how you will meet those needs.Learning Design:How will the department/field ensure that the same academic standards and requirements are applied to the program on campus and through distance learning? If the curriculum in the Distance Education program differs from that of the on-ground program, please identify the differences. Are the courses that make up the distance learning program offered in a sequence or configuration that allows timely completion of requirements? How do faculty ensure that the technological tools used in the program are appropriate for the content and intended learning outcomes? How does the program provide for appropriate and flexible interaction between faculty and students, and among students?How do faculty teaching online courses verify that students are doing their own work?Outcomes and Assessment:Distance learning programs are expected to produce the same learning outcomes as comparable classroom-based programs. How are these learning outcomes identified – in terms of knowledge, skills, or credentials – in course and program materials? Describe how the means chosen for assessing student learning in this program are appropriate to the content, learning design, technologies, and characteristics of the learners.Program Evaluation:What process is in place to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the distance learning program on a regular basis? How will the evaluation results be used for continuous program improvement? How will the evaluation process assure that the program results in learning outcomes appropriate to the rigor and breadth of the college degree or certificate awarded?Attachments:Attach results of a faculty vote (all field faculty with voting eligibility should be polled and address the thinking behind negative votes or abstentions).Attach support letters from your college/school dean and other relevant academic and administrative staff.
