STUDY AWARDS

Available for undergraduate students participating in recognised student exchange programmes

to a maximum value of

$5,000

for one semester exchange programmes

$7,000

for two semester exchange programmes

Who is Eligible to Apply?

1. The CoHSS Student Exchange Study Awards are open to students at all campuses, and those enrolled extramurally, who

a) meet the eligibility criteria established by the International Office for participation in a student exchange programme.

b) are enrolled in an undergraduate degree offered by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, at the time of application and continuously until the uptake of the award.

c) will have completed at least 120 credits of study towards this degree prior to their departure on exchange.

2. Applications will not normally be considered from students who are

(a) enrolled in an undergraduate certificate or undergraduate diploma

(b) enrolled in a graduate or postgraduate certificate, diploma or degree

3. Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Communication degree should submit their applications to the College of Business by the deadlines specified. Such applications will be considered jointly by the two Colleges, and study awards will be jointly funded.

4. Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Health Science degree should submit their applications to the College of Sciences by the deadlines specified. Such applications will be considered jointly by the two Colleges, and study awards will be jointly funded.

5. Students enrolled in the conjoint BA/BBS or the conjoint BA/BSc should submit their applications to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences by the deadlines specified. Such applications will be considered jointly by the two Colleges, and study awards will be jointly funded.

What are the Selection Criteria?

Selection will be based on academic merit, capacity to act as an ambassador for the College, anticipated benefits to the student and the College, and financial need. Preference may be given to students who

• will be returning to Massey for at least one semester following the exchange to complete their undergraduate degree

• have not previously participated in an exchange programme

• have not previously spent a significant period of time living in another country

How to Apply?

• Applications will only be accepted from students who have applied to participate in a Student Exchange programme

• CoHSS Student Exchange Study Award application forms can be obtained at or from the College Offices at

o Albany Atrium Building, Level 3

o Manawatu Social Sciences Tower Extension Building, Level 5

o Wellington Block 7, Level C

When to Apply?

Submit your application by

15 June for exchanges commencing in Semester 1 of the following year

15 October for exchanges commencing in Semester 2 of the following year

All applications will be acknowledged, and application outcomes will normally be advised in August and January. Please note that late applications will not be considered.
