|Description of Project: |The National Board, working with a diverse group of partners, seeks an|

| |Investing in Innovation development grant to support an effort |

| |designed to address Absolute Priority 1, |

| |Improving the Effectiveness and Distribution of Effective Teachers. |

| |The goal of this initiative is to advance the achievement of high-need|

| |students in grades 3-6 in mathematics and science through the |

| |development of effective teaching practices early in teachers’ |

| |careers. |

| | |

| |We will accomplish this goal through the following objectives: |

| | |

| |− utilizing videos paired with reflective analyses created by |

| |accomplished teachers as part of the National Board process to improve|

| |instruction in a technology-rich, cost-effective, and sustainable way |

| |(Competitive Preference Priority 10); and, |

| | |

| |− embedding these resources into the continuum of advancement so that |

| |all teachers have the opportunity to begin their careers with an |

| |understanding of what accomplished teaching looks like and a clear |

| |expectation of where they are headed. |

| | |

| |This initiative is designed to advance the mathematics and science |

| |achievement of 70,000 students in grades 3-6 across seven partner |

| |local education agencies (LEAs). Along with strategic partners, |

| |National Board will embed the key principles and exemplars of |

| |accomplished teaching in pre-service and induction, providing |

| |opportunities for educators in all settings to access exemplars of |

| |teaching in a cost-effective, scalable, and efficient manner |

| |(Competitive Preference Priority 9). |

| |Other project partners include the Teacher Performance Assessment |

| |Consortium and six of its participating institutions of higher |

| |education; the American |
