Clothes Care Guide - Martinizing Dry Cleaning

Clothes Care Guide

1. Clean all pieces of a suit or outfit together. There could be some loss of color, depending on the dye used.

2. Soil left on your clothing can cause wear on fibers. Clean regularly.

3. After wearing a garment, inspect it for any stains. Have it cleaned as soon as possible. At the end of the season if you have worn something but have not had it cleaned please do so. A garment that does not appear soiled often times is and if left for any length of time it could damage your garment.

4. Most knit sweaters should be folded over a hanger or folded and placed in a drawer or on a shelf. If knit items are hung by the shoulders they will stretch out of shape.

5. Do not remove care labels. Following these instructions are important for you and your cleaners.

6. Do not store your clothing in the plastic from your cleaners. Clothes need to breathe. If you must cover them either use a fabric garment cover or wrap them in a sheet or cotton material.

7. Never rub at a stain. This can cause chafing or discoloration. Blot with a white cloth or napkin. Have the garment cleaned as soon as possible to help prevent permanent staining.

8. Apply make up, lotions, perfume and especially hairspray before you dress. There is usually alcohol in these beauty supplies that can damage your clothing. If you need to apply hairspray after you have dressed, cover your shoulders with a towel.

9. Remove stains as quickly as possible. Stains can be set with heat and age which could make them impossible to remove.

10. Do not store clothes in a damp basement or hot attic. Also avoid direct exposure to sunlight or artificial light while in storage.

11. Cedar chests need the cedar renewed every few years. This is done be either re-sanding or applying cedar oil to the wood.
