Nastran / Matlab Modal Tools

Nastran / Matlab Modal Tools

Vibration mode shape viewer developed for the Matlab environment

• Eigenvector or operating deflection shape animations

• Models and results can be read directly into viewer from the Matlab workspace, and thus any modal solutions (numerical or experimental) can be viewed

• Select any default Matlab colormap or create and apply your own custom colormap!

• Full customizable color schemes, grid point symbols, element edges (flat color or interpolated color), show/hide colorbar, colorbar precision, colorbar divisions, animation speed, show/hide undeformed shape, show/hide colorbar axes, show/hide post titles, font sizes, renderer, deflection amplitudes, etc.)

• Fully dynamic model rotation, zoom, and pan while animating

• Use multiple viewers at once

• Preferences can be saved in computer’s registry so each time the viewer is started the customized settings are loaded

• Create animated gifs for use in reports or PowerPoint presentations!

Optimized Matlab functions for reading and viewing Nastran finite element models and results:

• File translators for OP2 (output2), punch, F06, and model files written in C/C++ and compiled as mex files for use in Matlab – very fast!

• MSC/Nastran, NX/Nastran, and CSA/Nastran file formats supported

• File translators execute fast with ability to filter results enabling easy handling of large data files

• Supported solution types include: Nastran solutions 103, 107, 108, 110, and 111

• Mode viewing GUI software enables complex mode shapes to be easily viewed with the benefits of using the Matlab development environment for ease of data manipulation

• Every Nastran coordinate system type supported (cord1c, cord1r, cord1s, cord2c, cord2r, and cord2s) – no limits on the number of systems!

• Modify finite element modes using the powerful Matlab toolboxes (modify grids, manipulate elements, etc.)

• Full source code available – customize for your application and save many, many hours of development time!

• Use the C/C++ programs for other applications to save development time
