July 2017For Immediate Release Advanced Degree for Star Bank Leader Katie Incantalupo, Vice President - Human Resources & Marketing at Star Bank, recently graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado (GSBC), a three-year banking school which provides management and advanced leadership training for community-banking professionals. Incantalupo was among 176 graduates from 2017. The program is housed on the campus of the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo.GSBC students are recognized by their bank’s senior executive team as strong leaders in their respective organizations. A GSBC diploma is widely recognized by the banking industry at large, and is a marker of advanced education which hundreds of bank-industry professionals from around the country accomplish each year.“Katie is a very focused and strategic leader with many years of experience in financial services,” said Star Bank President/CEO Harry Wahlquist. “She regularly pushes those around her to expand their limits and to excel. Our organization has gained much through her leadership, and we are all very proud of her accomplishments.”“Completing the coursework and projects associated with the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado is a great accomplishment for community bankers around the country,” said GSBC President Tim Koch, “Sponsoring organizations and communities should be very proud of the time and effort our graduates expend during their time in the program.”Graduates receive a diploma upon successfully completing six weeks of classroom training which focuses on the areas of general management, technology, lending, leadership and human-resource management, and financial management in community banks. Requirements for graduation also include comprehensive examinations, intersession research projects, and participation in a bank-management simulation course designed to provide students with detailed experience managing a bank.“The education I received at GSBC is invaluable,” said Incantalupo. “I had the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the industry and grow my leadership skills. I attended GSBC so that I will have more tools to contribute as a member of our senior management team in fulfilling the mission and vision of our bank. I am excited to be able to bring back what I’ve learned and make a positive impact on our organization and the communities we serve.”Incantalupo has been with Star Bank since the bank’s Eden Prairie office location opened seven years ago. In addition to completing the Graduate School of Banking in Colorado curriculum, Incantalupo holds a Master's Degree in Corporate Leadership from Bethel University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from Drake University. She is a graduate of Breck School (Lower, Middle, and Senior High). Prior to joining Star Bank, Katie was employed by Deluxe Corporation, Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union, Creighton University, and Inacom Corporation. She is an award-winning writer and a recipient of the Credit Union Executive Society "Rising 100" Award. When she is not working, Katie is a local volunteer with the American Red Cross and serves as an elected member of the Tiffany Circle National Council with the (national) American Red Cross organization in Washington D.C. Incantalupo is a second generation community banker. She is the daughter of Star Bank President/CEO, Harry Wahlquist.
