Tri-County Background

Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust (KBR) released a funding opportunity focused on addressing the impact of toxic stress and childhood trauma in Southeastern North Carolina, the last region of their 10 Healthy Places NC communities. Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina (PCANC) proposed a one-year project with stakeholders from Bladen, Robeson, and Columbus counties to develop a Regional Community Prevention Action Plan (CPAP) based on PCANC's CPAP framework.

PCANC staff made multiple trips to the tri-county area to meet with stakeholders and form a team of folks who helped write the grant. After discussions with the KBR Program Officer, PCANC also decided to partner with faculty from UNC Pembroke, who were also submitting a grant application that overlapped with PCANC's in many ways.
