1. When will the exams take place?

• All sets summer 2019

This will depend on the route

Separate scientist: - 1 hour and 45 minutes

Combined scientist: - 1 hour and 15 minutes

3. What will the exams look like?

4. When should students begin revising?

• Students should begin to look over their notes now and check their understanding of topics as they work through the course.

• The amount of revision should gradually increase as they get closer to the exam.

5. What are the best revision activities?

• Using the specification along with exam papers with a revision guide and the internet. Papers should be marked either by members of staff or by using the mark schemes at home which is extremely beneficial as they are able to see where the examiners are awarding marks.

• Ensure they have learnt all the necessary equations as the equation sheet for Physics has been drastically reduced.

• Students should commit to memory the reactivity series and other useful formulae

• Ensure they have created a glossary to learn key terminology

• Students should keep notes of questions they struggle on and list the relative topics; this should then be their revision focus. Too many students want to practice the questions they can do and avoid the harder questions that they cannot do.

• Reading through exercise books or copying out notes generally does not work for Science. They need to gain practice of applying their knowledge to new situations – best way is to get as much exposure to exam style questions as possible.
