With all of the recent school closures and a rapid shift towards virtual learning, many schools are asking us for immediate access and short-term licenses to accommodate learning through these uncertain times. Please know that we have been serving over one million students and job seekers every single day with benefits and value that impacts them well beyond the short-term. Because of the complexities of implementing and onboarding schools, particularly surrounding the protection of student data, providing short-term licenses is unfortunately not a feasible option. With that being said, we have been looking at solutions to assist educators with the challenges you are currently facing. Therefore, we are now offering three free months of additional access (to a 12-month license) to either platform ( or ) with a purchase order issued now. We can work with you to invoice the bulk of the license fee after July 1st, 2020 to offset the budget obstacles many districts typically face this time of year. We are also offering live webinar trainings several times throughout the day so your staff can learn how to build, publish, and assign lessons from our centralized location. As the world changes and evolves quickly, you may find that having a longer-term virtual learning solution will benefit your students well beyond the short term. Please let me know if you are interested in discussing options so we can implement this as quickly as possible and enable uninterrupted and continued learning. Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope you have a wonderful day.All the best,Shelly DunnavantSales Manager| Strivven Media LLC?Creators of ? & ? 888.908.4924 ext.18? At PLTW, we are standing right next to you as we adapt day-by-day to the ever-evolving global crisis. Over this past week, PLTW has sharpened its focus to ensure we continue serving our network with the tools and resources needed to continue providing transformative learning experiences.PLTW is making the following distance learning recommendations for teachers and students to be able to continue programs in PLTW Launch and PLTW Gateway:PLTW Launch – Teachers can adapt grades K-5 modules for distance learning. Click here to download the guide. While the guide includes most activities, projects, and problems from each module, any excluded modules?require equipment that students will likely not be able to access in their distance learning situation.PLTW Gateway – Teachers can adapt grades 6-8 units for distance learning. Click here to download the guide. While the guide includes most activities, projects, and problems from each unit, any excluded units?require equipment that students will likely not be able to access in their distance learning situation.PLTW High School – While PLTW High School courses?are primarily hands-on, lab-based learning experiences, PLTW is actively working to provide support for teachers and students completing the curriculum from home. PLTW is continuing to work with our partners to provide additional distance learning alternatives for technology over the following days and weeks, and will share more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, we recommend visiting Community in myPLTW?for more ideas and collaboration as you adjust curriculum to your students' needs.Additionally, PLTW has made the following key decisions effective immediately: Summer Core Training – To ensure our teachers can train this summer and implement programs this fall, we are moving to a completely virtual training experience this summer. There will be no onsite face-to-face trainings conducted in summer 2020. Detailed information about these experiences and transfer information for previous in-person registrations will be available soon.School Grants – PLTW is reviewing ways to resume grant activity as quickly as possible.?Schools may continue to submit applications for PLTW school grants. Thank you for your ability to adapt and take the appropriate actions to ensure we can all continue leading the way for America’s students.SkillsUSA Joins "Keep CTE Moving" Effort to Help?Students Continue Learning During COVID-19 Crisisright000SkillsUSA has joined with Lincoln Electric, Tooling U-SME, NC3 and camInstructor to form a new career and technical education (CTE) instructional resource called the CTE Coalition. The goal of the coalition is to leverage shared experiences, connections and resources for the benefit of all CTE students who are facing unprecedented educational challenges this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a first step in accomplishing that goal, the coalition quickly mobilized Keep CTE Moving, a new website providing free and heavily discounted resources for CTE instructors and their students.?Keep CTE Moving allows those instructors and students to access hundreds of online classes, videos, and instructional materials in areas such as machining, welding, mechatronics, industry 4.0, and programming. All online materials — many available at no charge for the next 30 days — are produced by the coalition partners. These resources will help CTE faculty and students adapt teaching and learning to a new virtual environment with the flexibility to learn now and test hands-on skills later.?SkillsUSA’s portion of the website offers our Career Essentials Suite in smaller, discounted segments, allowing more learners access to our advanced career readiness curricula with credentialing opportunities. (Note: SkillsUSA is contracted with a third-party learning management system that houses and delivers the Career Essentials program. Consequently, SkillsUSA incurs a fee for each person who accesses it. While we were unable to offer the resource for free, we chose the lowest rate possible that would allow us to cover a portion of our associated organizational costs and remain fiscally responsible to our members.)?“The coalition hopes that by offering these centralized online resources, we can quickly help thousands of students continue their studies in these unprecedented times when many schools are temporarily closed,” said SkillsUSA executive director Chelle Travis. “This is our effort to offer support to our students and teachers who need guidance and resources — and they need it right now.”?“A lot of CTE courses are very hands-on,” said Jason Scales, business manager of education at Lincoln Electric. “Many instructors simply don’t have online training content. This non-competitive group of industry-leading companies each maintain a robust set of e-learning modules and other resources. With this opportunity, tens of thousands of CTE students can keep learning, even while they may not be allowed to gather in a physical classroom or lab.”?The manufacturing industry has already faced a skilled labor shortage, and the continuing COVID-19 crisis has presented an additional challenge for educational institutions as schools close and face-to-face learning is disrupted. Understanding the urgency for resources, coalition partners are also providing recorded sessions with CTE instructors highlighting best practices in how to effectively utilize online resources and transition to a virtual learning environment.?CTE instructors are urged to visit Keep CTE Moving regularly for new partners, more learning resources and guidance that will evolve over time.
