Sunday, November 9 through Saturday, November 15 – Join Suzanne on November 10 as she examines the transition of two adults who hid their true identities through marriages and children, only to come out as gay and lesbian later in life. Casting agent Mike Lemon decided in college that it would be easier to live as a heterosexual male, and eventually married and had seven children. At 45, Lemon could no longer hide the truth from his family, and rediscovered himself as a gay man. Tina Silverman married twice, and had a son before she realized she was a lesbian. She is the happiest she’s ever been, now in a committed four-year relationship. Suzanne speaks with them about how they found the strength to finally be true to themselves and find happiness.

On November 11, Suzanne meets Anne Kreamer, whose book, Going Gray: What I Learned About Sex, Work, Motherhood, Authenticity and Everything Else That Really Matters, delves into the topic of aging and appearance in America, and tells why, after twenty years of dying her hair, she decided to let her true color shine through, not only saving her money, but discovering that some men actually prefer a more sophisticated tinsel-haired woman over an artificial-looking brunette!

Then on November 12, Suzanne welcomes guests who are defying odds and societal misconceptions as they battle HIV and AIDS over the age of 50. Jim Campbell and Tom Sentell, both over 50 and HIV positive, dispel the many myths and answer questions about contracting the disease later in life, including the fact that most of the sexual health information available is geared strictly to young people, while the reality is that people over 50 are the fastest-growing HIV positive group, and discuss some possible ways to reverse the stereotype, and provide this essential information to everyone.

On November 16, Mary Lynn Pannen, president of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, or PGCMs, tells Suzanne about how they can save a family hundreds of dollars a month by helping to navigate the often confusing maze of insurance, Medicare and long-term care facilities.

Then, on November 18, Suzanne welcomes professional organizer Pam Socolow, who has appeared on HGTV’s “Mission: Organization”, as well as founded Family Facts, her company that develops organizational products and services, as she offers tips on how to organize our affairs and records now, to avoid leaving our families with an organizational nightmare later. Learn how to identify the most important documents, and how to store and share them with your family members to avoid a mess.

Sunday, November 23 through Sunday, November 30 – Get healthy with Suzanne this week as she explores several ways to help us feel better, including helpful tips to banish headaches, fight forgetfulness, reduce stress and panic and even prevent a stroke. On November 23, meet Dr. J. David Spence, who believes that up to 75 percent of strokes can actually be prevented. In his new book, How to Prevent Your Stroke, Spence explains that if patients apply correct treatment methods and therapies, they can almost reverse their stroke risk factors. Suzanne discovers some other underlying causes that may surprise you, as well as new diets and remedies that can help prevent a stroke, or promote healing after a stoke occurs.

Suffer from chronic headaches? On November 25, David Buchholz, professor at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and author of Heal Your Headache: The 1-2-3- Program for Taking Charge of Your Headaches visits Suzanne to discuss some holistic cures. Buchholz explains that, although relying on artificial painkillers provides relief, it cannot fix the cause of the headache, and offers some common headache triggers, how to avoid – or at least minimize – them, and most importantly, how to prevent headaches in the first place.

Preventing headaches goes hand-in-hand with preventing worry, stress and panic. On November 26, Suzanne welcomes Dr. Francis Mondimore and Reverend James Allen to discuss panic attacks, panic disorders and ways to treat and prevent both. Mondimore explains the difference between a panic attack – an acute episode -- and a panic disorder – a chronic problem, and how we can identify and manage them for ourselves or a loved one, while Allen recounts his own struggle with a panic disorder that caused him to pull his car off the road while driving due to overwhelming fear and anxiety.

On November 27, Cathryn Jakobson Ramin, a journalist and author who, after realizing her memory had been steadily declining, set out to find answers, talks to Suzanne about her book, Carved in Sand: When Attention Fails and Memory Fades in Midlife, which chronicles some common causes of memory loss, including chronic insomnia, sports injuries, prescription drugs, and even depression and obesity. Tune in to discover what you can do to protect your memory and attention span beyond your 40s.
