SOAR Tickets

S. Christa McAuliffe is a Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) school. The behaviors that we teach are:

S: Safety

O: Ownership

A: Achievement

R: Respect

We will reward students who are showing SOARing behavior. Students that are showing SOAR behavior can earn a SOAR ticket. These tickets are collected and can be spent by choosing an item off of the classroom menu. Each Friday, one student from each grade level is selected by the teachers to be honored as the Friday Silver Falcon. An administrator will call home to let the parent(s) know about their child’s accomplishment.

Student Drop-off and Pick-Up

Safety is a top priority. Please ensure your child crosses streets and/or parking lots using the crosswalk and crossing guard.

We appreciate your patience as you move through the drop-off/pick-up line. We will do our best to move the line through safely and quickly. To help us out, please pull all the way forward in the line to drop off or pick up your child.

During after school pick-up, the exit from the parking lot will remain a Right Turn Only for the first 15 minutes after the bell rings.

It is important to show our neighbors respect by staying off of their lawns and by not blocking their driveways at any time. Also, if you are waiting to pick up your child, you must park your car along a curb.

Morning Drop-Off

In the morning, all students who arrive to school prior to the bell should make their way to the playground by walking around the outside of the building. Students eating breakfast should also enter the building through the back entrance. Parents and students are asked to wait on the playground, not inside, for the bell to ring.

October Count

Please remember that our school day is from

8:25 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. Your child’s achievement depends on their attendance at school. This is especially important during our October Count window which is from September 24, 2014 to October 8, 2014. Please do your best to have students attend school all day, especially during our count window.

Dress Code Reminder

As a reminder, our district’s dress code policy does not allow students to wear red or blue shoelaces or sports jerseys with specific numbers.  Please reference the S. Christa McAuliffe handbook, found on our school website, for more detailed information.

Pre-Arranged Absences

Remember that Pre-Arranged absence forms are only necessary for students who are missing three or more consecutive days of school. You do not need to fill out a form for a one day absence or when your student is being checked out early.

Box Tops for Education

We have set a goal to collect $5,000 or more in Box Tops by the end of the school year. If we reach this goal, Mr. Paxton has agreed to wear a dress to school! To accomplish this goal, each student needs to collect $1.15 in Box Tops each month. Let’s work together to make this happen by the end of the school year!

Walk to School Day

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has invited all Colorado schools to participate in Walk to School Day on Wednesday, Oct 8, 2014 as a part of Colorado Pedestrian Month. Through a partnership with Colorado Action for Healthy Kids and LiveWell Colorado, CDOT will be randomly awarding three schools with a $250 mini grant. Thank you for your participation!

Citizens Academy

Greeley-Evans School District 6 is pleased to announce the 5th Annual Citizens Academy for community members who are interested in learning more about how our schools and district operate. The first meeting is Monday, October 6th at the District 6 Administration Building, 1025 9th Avenue, Greeley. The next will be on Monday, November 3rd at Centennial Elementary School, 1400 37th Street, Evans.

SOARing Volunteers

The staff at S. Christa McAuliffe would like to thank the volunteers who helped with Picture Day and the Vision and Hearing Screening! Robin Long, Delaney Olivas, Jessica Vincent, Carly Prevanas, Margee McGinley, Nini Lara, Colleen Fahsholtz, and Andrew Mejia, thank you! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the office and we will make sure to share your information with our Volunteer Coordinator.

Movie Night

Our Parent Teacher Organization will be hosting a movie night on October 10th and 11th. We will be watching Rio 2 and Monsters University. Please join us for movies and popcorn! More information will be coming soon!

Support Our School

Student Council is selling reusable shopping bags as a way to support their mission of bringing environmental awareness to our falcon family. The cost is $5.00 per bag. Our hope is to boost the use of reusable shopping bags, not only at the grocery store, but everywhere AND their unique S. Christa McAuliffe design helps promote our amazing school! All proceeds will go towards the purchase of more bags as well as future events sponsored by our Student Council.

United Way

Student Council is hosting Twin Day on October 31st. All proceeds collected will go to the United Way of Weld County. Bring a dollar and match a partner for Twin Day!

News from our Health Office

Mrs. Mejia and Ms. Phillips would like to remind parents to drop off all medication in the health office accompanied with doctor’s orders. Cough drops must also come to the health office. In addition, the health office is accepting donations of clothing bottoms for both boys and girls. This will help provide a change of clothes for students when needed.
