Math Common Core StandardsNewly updated Math CurriculumJune 2010 state of Illinois formally adopted new learning standards in Math based on Common Core:- set of clear rigorous standards to ensure students graduate high school prepared for college and careers in 21st Century- adopted by 45 states including Illinois- aligned to college and work expectations, more rigorousList of these standards and further information can be found at: for parents including grade level guides: Key points in the new Math standards:focus in early grades on number & numerationalgebraic readiness by 8th gradegeometric concepts in middle gradesreal world application, problem solvingThroughout 2011 2012 Dist 204 committee of teachers, administrators, support staff met to update the current math curriculum to the new standards and this newly updated curriculum will be implemented this year.The K-5 Student Profile of Progress given quarterly with report cards has been aligned to these new standards at each grade level.District anticipates purchasing new textbook materials in the next few years. after statewide assessment of the new standards in 2014-2015. By this time publishers will have brought their materials into full alignment with the new standards and state assessment frameworks. However there does exist alignment with current textbook resources, and where needed other materials have been identified for use to ensure all grade level standards are covered. Many resources are digital.Lessons are created on an ongoing basis...* We are teaching to mastery and need to make daily decisions about what the class needs. The student response to the day's lesson will determine the next day's focus.With absences there aren't always book pages assigned as the EDM is not followed in the same way as before.
