Qualifications

? Minimum grade 12 education ? Post-secondary education (preferred) ? BC SPCA Introduction to Cruelty Investigations Course ? Passed both the Special Provincial Constable Exam and the Animal Protection Officer

Exam ? Minimum of 3 Justice Institute Courses (or their equivalent)

- IE 130 Introduction to investigative skills and processes or IE 176 Introduction to Animal Cruelty Investigations;

- IE 150 Report writing for Professional Investigators; - IE 160 Application and Execution of Search Warrants; ? Valid BC driver's license ? Posses basic computer skills sufficient to deal effectively with the necessary front office routines including a proficiency in BCSPCA Shelter Software ? Subject to a criminal records check ? Demonstrated knowledge of federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations regarding animals, animal welfare and related activities ? Demonstrated knowledge of animals, their breeds, characteristics and more common diseases ? Superior communication and organizational skills ? Additional considerations subject to approval by the GM of CI ? Must be approved by the Ministry of the Attorney General for appointment as a Special Provincial Constable under the Police Act
