Project Outline for Janus Capital GroupProject Purpose The Primary goal of this project is to develop a proposal for how to better leverage the current “Janus Report” (our direct and supermarket shareholder quarterly informational publication). HistoryJanus started as a direct to consumer mutual fund company and has evolved to a global asset manager who distributes their products through 3rd party intermediaries. In July 2009, Janus stopped offering their mutual funds directly to new consumers. The existing direct investor base has been grandfathered, and their family and household members have the ability to open accounts. Project ObjectivesThis marketing and communications proposal should address, but not be limited to, the following:how to better leverage the webhow to promote a friends and family strategywhat kind of new or enhanced content should we focus on format of the publication (eg news letter vs magazine)Project ScopeThe scope of this project is to develop a marketing and communications proposal to enhance an existing publication for our direct and supermarket shareholders.DeliverablesA proposal that addresses enhancement of the current Janus Report and includes an analysis of The current Janus reportSimilar customer publication outside of the financial industrySimilar customer publications within the financial services industryProject ApproachWork with Janus to understand expectations and visionBrainstorm/develop plans for marketing and communication Validate with JanusRevisePresent to Janus managementCritical Milestones and Event DatesThe appropriate timeline will be determined based on the group and class requirements. Roles & ResponsibilitiesMaureen Boss will be the primary Janus contact, and other Janus management staff can be available as needed.Quality ConsiderationsThe final product will be used or evaluated by senior company executives for possible inclusion into existing plans/strategy.AssumptionsThe budget for the marketing and communications plan/strategy will be limited.Janus no longer accepts new investors in their direct to consumer distribution channel, the product will need to be focused on 1) retaining existing investors and 2) growing assets from existing investorsJanus only has a minimum of demographic information on this investor segmentThe focus of the proposal should be on how to deliver a message and only deal with content in broad brush terms (as a regulated industry, actual communication to investors is tightly controlled by Janus)Direct feedback from investors is not attainable (ie no focus groups, surveys, etc.) ................
