?Question for written answer E-006752/2020to the Vice-President of the Commission / High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security PolicyRule 138Mara Bizzotto (ID)Subject:Forcible removal of organs in China and its aberrant implications: report by the NGO DAFOHIn March 2020 a report by the NGO Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH) on the forcible removal of organs in China and its global implications denounced forced organ harvesting as an aberrant murderous practice practised by the Chinese communist regime. Forcible harvesting of organs from prisoners has been permitted in China since 1984. The Chinese Communist Party began persecuting followers of Falun Gong in 1999. Since then, the annual number of organ transplants in China has risen by 300 % and it is estimated that over 60 000 transplant operations take place per year.Notwithstanding that China declares forcible removal of organs stopped in 2015, its organ donation rates are out of all proportion, 200 times higher than those for the United Kingdom and the United States. In view of the European Parliament resolution of 12 December 2013 on organ harvesting in China (2013/2981(RSP)) and the 2016 resolution H.Res.343 of the United States Congress, and given the ‘cold genocide’ that China is enacting against Falun Gong prisoners of conscience as well as the fact that in 2019 an independent UK tribunal concluded that ‘forced organ harvesting has been committed for years throughout China [...] and Falun Gong practitioners have been [...] the main source of organ supply’, can the Vice-President / High Representative answer the following questions:1.What measures will the Vice-President / High Representative promote to bring an end to the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and the aberrant practice of forcible organ harvesting by China?2.Does the Vice-President / High Representative know of any cases of organs being forcibly harvested in China and used in Europe? ................
