THE SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK This Is a very special sacrament that God gives us to represent the Healing Love of Jesus Christ. It is one of the seven sacraments and serves as a channel for special graces from God that comfort and heal, physically and/or spiritually, people who are seriously ill and/or in danger of death. (CC1520) This sacrament is available to all who are ill, elderly or in rm. However, due to privacy laws and HIPAA, the parish relies solely on family and friends to inform the Rectory if anyone is in need of this sacrament or would like a visit at 413-229-3028.

Dear OLV parishioners,
This year, as in the past, as Super Bowl Sunday approaches on February 13, we prepare for our donations to the OLV Breaking Bread program, which we have linked to the national "Souper Bowl" of Caring program which raises funds for community dinners, soup kitchens, and food pantries throughout the United States. The Breaking Bread program for our community has continued despite the burdens imposed as a result of the Covid pandemic. Once again we make this appeal to your generosity, which has carried us through 2021, despite increased costs for compostable containers and bags to hold the nutritious dinners we provide for about 70 people. For 2022, however, we will need an infusion of new funds to sustain the program with these increased expenses. Our goal is to continue the program on a takeout basis for as long as we have to...hopefully at some point later in the year we may be able to return to sitdown meals at the American Legion Hall. Please look for the "Souper Bowl" of Caring signs on the large soup kettles for the collections at the church entrance on February 12 and 13 ... and thanks in advance for your continued
generosity. If you would like to make a donation with a personal check, please make it out to "Our Lady of the Valley", with a note at the bottom "For Breaking Bread". For more information please call Dennis or Kathy Staropoli at 2290490.
Submissions for the Feb 19/20 Bulletin must be received
no later than 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 5, 2022.

Due to the Omicron variant of the COVID virus and at the recommendation of the Town of Sheffield, the CDC and by directive of the Diocese of Springfield, masks are now required inside the church. We continue sanitizing and the omission of Communion on the tongue, the invitation to share the sign of peace, handshakes after Mass and Holy Water in the fonts. A touchless Holy Water dispenser has been installed. If you need one, disposable masks are available at the church entrances. Thank you for helping us provide the safest environment possible.
YEAR OF THE EUCHARIST "Why does Jesus come to us as the Eucharist?
