It is the policy of the District Board of Trustees that student fees are established by the Board upon the recommendation of the president and are published from year to year in the college catalogue. In addition to tuition, the Board of Trustees may authorize fees for unusual services and materials not provided for in the direct instructional support discipline categories of the Community College Funding Model. The Board authorizes the College to establish a procedure for delineating these costs.

Fees shall be waived for the students in accordance with Florida Statutes, State Board of Education Rules, and proviso language in the annual appropriation act.

ESTABLISHING FEES

Fees approved by the District Board of Trustees, may be established for unusual costs not provided for in direct instructional support cost categories of the Community College Funding Model. These fees shall only be charged to students receiving the unusual service and/or materials, and will support costs only for the current semester of enrollment.

SPECIAL FEE TYPES

• Specialized software

• Specialized equipment and materials

• Equipment and software maintenance agreements

• Substantial use of printing or computer supplies, such as those caused by Gordon Rule requirements

• Pass-through costs from third parties (testing fees)

• Instructional videos or tapes

• Kits required for a course

• Pass through costs for materials (such as uniforms) required for a course

• Insurance coverage for the student in conjunction with a course

Fees for unusual materials or services are calculated based on the cost of the service or material, divided by the number of students who would normally use that service or material in a semester. Programs will determine the cost of unusual fees on annual basis. All changes in fees must go through the Educational Affairs Committee and be submitted to the President and Board of Trustees for approval.
