|HST 2700 |This is a new core course in the major. A key requirement of the course is for the students to | |

| |responsibilities outside of the classroom. | |

|HST 2800 & 3800 |These are new core courses with the focus on understanding and conducting research activities in | |

| |health. Students will be required to identify research questions and collect data for analysis and| |

| |conclusion. | |

|HST 3700 |This course is the Methods course for the Community Health option. One of the major projects | |

| |session that is set up in the bridge lounge of MLK Union. Students develop communication skills on| |

| |health topics. | |

|Advising | The department has assigned advisor for Community Health. Students interact every semester with | |

| |the advisor in their career planning. Dr. Dietz has established Thursday evening advisement through| |

| |email in which students can email questions for an immediate response. | |

|Eta Sigma Gamma |Through this health honorary students have the opportunity to work with community agencies to | |

| |develop discipline skills (ACS Relay for Life), travel to state and national conferences with | |

| |faculty, and develop the social networks that assist in professional growth. | |

|Portfolio requirement |Every major must submit a major portfolio demonstrating proficiency in the discipline competencies | |

| |as established by the American Association for Health Education, one of which is professional | |
