A secretary will be getting in touch with Amie to provide more information. Brent’s committee, Program Integration & Development, is also interested in Donna’s workshop, specifically addressing asset-based language. If not high enough, students take the WRITE class (an online tool) which addresses college skills and shows students writing samples from different courses. Similar to directed self-placement. Ideas for process:Where is the problem with retention in your program? First figure out where the retention problems are in our programs.Where are these students in the community?Who doesn’t come? What barriers do we present? Why aren’t students accessing the college resources?Should we survey on best practices? What outreach are programs doing? Do programs have an early alert? How do programs communicate with students?Do the programs refer to other programs, CBOs & services?Sherri set up work groups: one group is looking at websites from other munity mapping activity: structure an activity for CBS colleagues to map their community. (Scott)Survey of best practices for recruitment: What is working? What is not working? What did you learn from that?At Rendezvous: template to describe process navigating from basic skills to academics & strategies to improve. Some colleges worked on getting into basic skills.
