Operations Order XXX-X

Commandant’s Operations Order: Leadership Training Program Evolution

1. SITUATION: On Tuesday, _____________ from 1100-1150, all SCCC cadets will conduct Leadership Training Program events that directly support Citadel Training Manual and four-year leader development learning outcomes.

2. MISSION: On _______________, the Corps will participate in a scavenger hunt at the squad level in order to build esprit de corps through teamwork and competition. All leaders, trainers, and trainees will complete their duties in a manner which fully complies with prescribed rules and regulations, demonstrates Citadel Core Values, and remains consistent with CTM principles.

3. EXECUTION

a. Concept of the Operation

1) Each company will provide 10 squads to participate in the competition (40 squads/battalion. The exception being 2nd Battalion which will account for the extra Company by having all 5 provide 8 squads each). Each squad will hunt for a puzzle piece using clues and bring it back to the battalion to assemble a 40-piece picture. Training will be conducted with squad integrity.

2) Phase I of the competition will be a scenario-based CTM application.

a) Company Commanders will provide each squad leader with a scenario 1-2 weeks in advance, which will test the squad on CTM principles and their application (Test/Answer key – TBD). The scenario must be satisfactorily briefed (TAC) prior to “game day.” If the scenario is unsatisfactorily briefed the first time, remediation (tutoring) will result. The scenario (or a second) will be re-briefed to standard. As a result, a 5-minute penalty will be assessed on the squad(s).

b) At 1100 hrs, squad leaders and squad members are assembled. Any questions are addressed within the Battalion by the administrators.

c) Squads receive their individual clue for the scavenger hunt phase of the competition.

3) Phase II of the competition will be the scavenger hunt.

a) Each squad will address their clue in order to solve.

b) The clues lead to a specific location or series of locations. Once the squad determines the solution to the clue, a minimum of three members of the squad proceed to that location to receive their puzzle piece or a follow-on clue. (attendance verified by station attendees)

c) The squad returns to the battalion and must work with other squads to assemble the whole puzzle.

d) When the battalion accurately and completely assembles the picture, the BN Ops Officer will radio to Regimental Ops a time of completion. The first battalion to do so wins the competition.

e) Tiered prizes for completing the objective will be announced (TBD).

4) Competition concludes at 1150.
