Install, modify, and make repairs to computer hardware and software. Provide technical assistance and training to system users, and provide network-related PC support. Function as a team member with other Information Technology employees to maximize service to MSC students and employees.Classification:Full-timeSalary:Salary commensurate with qualifications, education and experience.Full fringe benefits are included as part of the salary package.Appointment:12 month-renewable annuallyDescription of Duties and Tasks:General Job Functions:Install and/or assist in the installation of hardware and peripheral components, such as monitors, keyboards, printers, disk drives, network cards, etc.Install and maintain PC application software packages, such as operating systems, word processing programs, spreadsheet programs, database programs, presentation software, etc.Provide tracking of requests for services for MSC employees and students.Evaluate and prepare operating systems and software application packages for servers and PCs.Perform help desk services providing technical assistance (including telephone support, e-mail support, and user-location support) for MSC users concerning questions or problems with software and/or hardware.Diagnose system hardware, software, and operator problems. Recommend or perform remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of system operation.Represent Information Technology in a professional manner.5.Accept other duties as assigned by the supervisor.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, by using some other combination of skills and abilities:1.Demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of PC-based operating systems, including all versions of Windows workstations and servers.2.Demonstrate sound knowledge of PCs and related peripheral equipment, including printers, multimedia, FAX machines/modems, scanners, PC cards, etc.3.Demonstrate working knowledge of PC-based application systems.4.Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate and work productively with computer users (MSC employees and students).5.Demonstrate experience of, or willingness in, working effectively in a culturally diverse workplace and/or serving clientele from a variety of racial and cultural backgrounds.6.Demonstrate experience of, and/or willingness in, learning and using state-of-the-art technology.7. Drive college-owned vehicles; possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.8.Develop and maintain an attitude of service toward students, coworkers, and others.Other Ergonomic Requirements (if any):Daily usage of PCs and terminals requires keyboarding, which involves extensive hand and wrist movements. The need arises on a periodic basis to move computer equipment (PCs, printers, accessories, etc.) that equates to lifting and carrying heavy objects. Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing PCs and other computer-related equipment requires employees to reach, bend, lift, stoop, crouch, scoot, and work on the floor. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without a significant risk of injury, or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform the essential functions listed above.Image:Murray State College employees are expected to maintain a neat, well-groomed, and professional image at all times.Hours:Generally, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (40-hour workweek). Occasionally, it may be necessary to deviate from the normal eight-to-five work schedule. Some weekend or holiday hours may be required.Qualifications Standards:Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma Experience:Required -Minimum one year of work experience with PCs, application packages, and network operating systems.Preferred -Work experience with networks (software and hardware), PCs, peripherals, Windows client and server operating systems, and application packages.Work experience in providing user support and troubleshooting within an organization.NIMS General Role Training is required for this position.
