Computer Lab Proposal

The purpose of this computer lab is to provide students access to computer technologies t required by academic instructors. The computer lab would be to support the needs of all students on campus. The lab is classified as a “General Use” computer lab.

The lab currently has an existing Novell server with enough licenses for 31 computers. The existing computers are Compaq and are outdated. Computer equipment in the computer lab is mainly for general usage such as applications for office productivity suite, research on the internet, and applications for instructional support such as statistical and computer programming software. This combination of hardware is, I believe, the best investment for the money.

The operation hours are as follows:

Monday 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Saturdays 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Sundays 12:00 noon to 12 p.m.

The lab will consist of the following:

30 Dell computers with Windows XP Professional Operation Systems. See computer specs. Licenses are included.

• One HP 8150 Series laser networked printer

• One I320 Color Bubble Jet Printer

• One flatbed scanner

• Server Sunfire V240

• One Panasonic 50” plasma display

• One HR VCR Silver JVC

• One Graphics Camera

• One Hitachi Projector

• Cyber Acoustics speakers systems

• One Cable Cat 5 Ethernet crimping kit with 1000’ of cable and 50 plugs

• One Hub with 35 ports 10/100 fast Ethernet +2 ports
