|General Responsibilities: |

|Essential Duties and Responsibilities: |

|Coordinate activities of new house construction, including but not limited to: 1) purchase of construction materials, tools and equipment, 2) hire subcontractors |

|where needed, 3) pull appropriate permits and call for inspections, and 4) oversee new house construction. |

|Oversees selection of lots within the established parameters of affordability and appropriateness for building based on family size, house design and annual |

|construction calendar. |

|Manages construction in partnership with ReStore and in such a way as to eliminate excess waste, utilizing reclaimed and recycled materials whenever possible. |

|Review the Affiliate Safety plan annually and ensure that all policies and procedures are implemented to maintain a safe volunteer environment. |

|Serve as staff liaison for Building Committee. |

|Prepare sites for construction, including clearing and foundation work. |

|Assist homeowners in the following activities, including but not limited to: 1) monitoring sweat equity hours, 2) educating homeowners in routine house |

|maintenance, 3) conducting punch list for closing, 4) conducting warranty work. |

|Coordinate volunteers ranging from beginner to skilled in construction tasks. |

|Organize experienced volunteers to lead work groups. |

|Responsible for quality control, including review of contractor and volunteer work. |

|Responsible for safety at construction site, including but not limited to: 1) implementation of emergency plan, 2) ensure that equipment and tools are in good |

|working condition, 3) train volunteers in safety practices, and 4) monitor volunteers, including minors, to ensure safe use of tools and equipment according to |

|age, skill and OSHA and HFHI regulations. |

|Set project budgets for houses and make adjustments accordingly. |

|Review billing statements and authorize payment accordingly. |

|Executes pertinent responsibilities of fiscal policies, i.e. credit card. |

|Work with board/committee members to obtain in kind donations of material and services. |

|Maintain order and upkeep of construction warehouse. |

|Assesses resource need (staffing, vehicle, equipment, subcontractor, etc.); develops and implements plans for acquiring needed resources, including providing |

|documentation needed for budget. |

|Develops plans, schedules and budgets required to meet production goals; monitors performance and when necessary, makes adjustments to assure good performance. |

|Employs, trains, directs, supervises and evaluates construction staff and AmeriCorps members. |

|Assigns and oversees daily construction activities to make best use of construction staff, volunteers and subcontractors. |

|Monitors and evaluates AmeriCorps members. |

|Collaborates with Construction Staff on management of subcontractors. |

|Reviews and approves plans and schedules required to meet house building goals. |

|Coordinates daily activities balancing efficiency with productive volunteer engagement. |

|Maintains a safe workplace. |

|Oversees “punch list” process to assure a timely response. |

|Oversees warranty calls to assure prompt response. |

|Works with Construction Staff and Director in preparation, maintenance and review of construction budgets. |

|Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor |

|Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures |

|Supervises volunteers and provides them with encouragement, motivation, and training as necessary. |

|Serves as construction liaison with assigned house sponsor and with prospective homeowner. |

|Assures that house construction conforms to Habitat construction methods, quality standards and applicable building codes. |

|Supervises and trains AmeriCorps members as assigned. |

|Performs other construction tasks as assigned by the Director of Construction and Land Development |

|Prevents waste of materials and supplies and assures that construction site, storage areas and trailers remain clean and orderly. |

|Assures that all “punch list” items and Homeowner warranty obligations for assigned houses are taken care of in a timely manner. |

|Accountable and responsible for the construction of houses assigned. |

|Coordinates the work schedule to remain on schedule. Monitors and reports on progress against schedule makes adjustments necessary to maintain schedule. |

|Leads construction of assigned houses, and when needed performs “hands on” work, including “prep” work required to be performed during the week. |

|Coordinates with Construction staff to assure that all needed supplies, tools and equipment are available for the scheduled weekday work. |

|Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: |

|Education: Some college-level education preferred. Residential construction skills required. Contractor’s License preferred or the willingness to obtain the |

|license. |

|Experience: A minimum of five years’ experience in residential construction, including specific supervisory or management experience. Teaching experience or |

|Habitat AmeriCorps experience preferred. Experience in and knowledge of Green Building certification requirements. |

|Possess broad knowledge of building trades and construction techniques as related to all aspects of home building: carpentry, foundations, plumbing, electrical, |

|flooring, drywall, cabinetry, AC/heating, painting, landscaping/laying sod. |

|Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service |

|Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted |

|practices |

|Other requirements: |

|Valid North Carolina driver’s license required with a clean driving record. |

|The normal work schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday but may be varied as necessary. Normal working hours will be 40 hours per week or 8 hours per day. The |

|daily start and finish hours may vary with the daily construction schedule requirements. |

|Ability to coordinate the construction of single family dwellings with volunteers and contractors; ability to supervise and manage staff/volunteers/contractors; |

|ability to lift 150 lbs. or more; ability to operate company vehicles, construction tools and equipment; interest in working with disadvantaged families. |

|Physical Requirements: |

|Able to drive various organizational vehicles: |

|Able to stand on concrete floors, bend, reach, lift, climb in and out of trucks and commercial vehicles, climb on and off loading docks all throughout each eight |

|(8) hour work day. |

|Physical Demands: Strenuous activity requiring ability to sit, walk, carry, push, pull, lift 150 lbs., climb, and bend. |

|Working Conditions: Exposure to extreme temperatures, loud noises, and other various adverse working conditions associated with outdoor work. |

|Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry building tools and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds on a construction site. Must be able to climb ladders |

|and access all areas of homes under construction, including crawl spaces and second floor roofs. Must be able to work in unconditioned spaces and tolerate |

|regional extremes in weather. |
