Unit 6: Westward Expansion CollageWe will work in our accountability groups to create a visual representation of Westward Expansion during and after the Civil War. Develop a slogan and a symbol to display on the poster that best represents the Populist Party’s political platform. Describe at least three party planks, as well as your candidate’s background and qualifications for the presidency.Public Service Announcement: Create a billboard poster and write a letter that would address one of the following western environmental disasters: destruction of the buffalo; Strip miningResearch the extent of the disaster and the possible long term economic and social implications of it on the nation. Include their beliefs and major conflicts with either other tribes or the U.S. government.Turner’s Top Ten Timeline: Choose ten of the most significant events in developing the west that you feel can support or refute Frederick Jackson Turner’s Frontier thesis. Give a brief narrative (Who? What? Where? And When?) of each event; analyze how and/or why the event supports/refutes Turner’s thesis; create an image for each event. This will be due on January 17, 2017. All work must represent your best effort. Neatness and organization count. Content as always must be accurate. Internet copies can only be used where it is directed. All research must be properly cited in MLA format.
