Procurement Questions

Do we have access to Pearson content for as long as the device is still working after our Apple contract ends? What about updates to the curriculum? Are those included during the 3-year contract? Will we have to pay for that after the 3 years is up? We will need to purchase licenses after the 3-year contract expires if we want to continue to use the content.

Updates to content will be available at no cost for three years from the date of the delivery of the content. (Apple Contract Exhibit D, page 2 of 3)

Will we still get 4th gen iPad even though there is a new iPad on the market? Our contract is for the purchase of the 4th generation iPad.

Did we ask the vendors if they could retrofit the iPads so they could be connected by wire, instead of wirelessly? No, we did not.

Procurement Questions

When did the three-year contract start? The first day of the rollout? July 16, 2013

How was the curriculum piece presented by various bidders? Did they say, "We'll provide X amount of lessons," or did they say, "We'll provide X amount of percent of curriculum," during Phase 1, and the rest at what point in time? Typically it was stated that "X is a comprehensive core curriculum from K-12 in ELA and Math written to CCSS. The curriculum covers the entire school year and helps prepare students for the Smarter Balanced Assessments."

Some of the Publisher's Criteria was not published, so the response we received would be stated, "Once the high school mathematics Publisher's Criteria is available the program will be developed." The RFP was issued on March 1, 2013 and the 9-12 Publishers Criteria for Mathematics was to be released in mid-2013.
