Guidelines: SCB Graduate Student Research Fellowship
As part of a new initiative by the Society for Conservation Biology, $10,000 of Awards funding will be allocated annually toward SCB Graduate Student Research Fellowships. The SCB Global awards committee will allocate 10 x $1000 fellowships per annum. The Committee will evaluate applicants on merit, and with respect to geographic, topical, gender and other aspects of conservation diversity. Students must be active SCB members in good standing.
• Timeline: Applications due 1 April 2017, with decisions announced in May 2017.
• Amount of award: $1000 USD, a total of 10 awards given annually
Objective: To support travel, materials or equipment required to conduct research by graduate student members of SCB. Students must demonstrate financial need toward completion of graduate degree, and fellowship to be used toward support of field work, materials and equipment. Graduate research must contribute to SCB’s mission to advance the science and practice of conserving the Earth. The fellowship is designed to support early or mid-stage graduate students who need assistance with costs toward field expenses in order to complete their degree.

4. Proof of university enrolment for the period January-June 2017 (e.g., scanned copy of a university student card, registration fees receipt).
5. Letter of support from primary supervisor, mailed separately to awards@ with your name in the subject header

Short Answer
1. Please describe of location of your graduate field work (maximum 50 words)
2. Research Project (maximum 500 words). Please summarise your research project, including project objectives, methods and expected outcomes, and the progress to date. Be explicit about how your research contributes to the mission of SCB.
3. Budget justification (maximum 200 words). Please provide an explanation of what the funds would be used for, with expenses itemised, and how the funding will support completion of the graduate degree.
4. SCB Service (maximum 200 words). Please comment on your involvement with SCB, including how long you have been a member, what SCB conferences you have attended, whether you belong to a SCB Chapter, SCB committee service, etc.
