FOREWORD

The Association of Arkansas Counties 2017 County Government Salary Survey is a compilation of the results of a survey conducted by the Association of Arkansas Counties. This survey is undertaken to assess the prevailing wages and salaries of county government officials and employees in Arkansas. The information included in this survey was based on 2017 Budgets and includes budget amendments reported to AAC.

A word of caution is necessary for those using the information in this report. Obviously, no two county governments operate exactly the same and this variable should be remembered when attempting to make meaningful comparisons of the information presented. Also, salaries are only a part of the total compensation package. Many other factors, such as insurance, sick leave, annual leave, retirement, and other fringe benefits need to be considered before valid comparison can be made between counties.

Enclosed you will also find A.C.A. 14-14-1204 which sets the minimum and maximum salaries for all elected county officers. This code includes the adjusted numbers for salaries in calendar year 2017.
