Position: Facilities Manager

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

The Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining the school’s physical plant and assisting in planning, renovations and budgeting of school facilities. Duties include building maintenance, grounds maintenance and environmental/safety regulation compliance. Schedule includes emergency on call duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee the physical operation of the entire school and its programs

• Manage the careful maintenance of buildings, grounds and cleaning programs that keep the school’s appearance in exemplary condition

• Ensure facility readiness for day-to-day events as well as special events

• Maintain public safety on campus and assist in the review and execution of the school’s crisis management plan

• Participate in the development of policies and procedures to enhance the life and ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facilities

• Participate in annual budget preparation ensuring adequate funds for its operation

• Arrange bids and develop specifications for all outside contractual work

• Oversee the work of all outside contractors to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and budgetary restrictions

• Develop and implement an ongoing equipment replacement program.

• Develop a system for repair and maintenance of facilities

• Oversee the maintenance and care of the school grounds and athletic fields

• Recruiting and training of operations staff

• Develop skills enhancement training programs for operations staff

• Evaluate the work quality of staff and other subordinates

• Coordinate with other offices and units for things that are not within the scope of the operations team

• Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related discipline, and/or;

• 5-10 years of experience in a supervisory/management role in construction, maintenance/repair; working knowledge of a least three trades is required (maintenance, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, carpentry, construction)

• Strong supervisory, organizational, technical, and analytical skills

• Proven success developing and balancing and annual budget

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

• Problem solver with a high degree of diplomacy

• Experience with blueprints and building specifications

• Able to work collaboratively with a team
