Philadelphia and Gettysburg Project

Washington D.C. Project

Students must select a topic from the approved list or get permission from the teacher for a different topic. Each student will make an original project based on places or people related to Washington D.C. This is not a project about a person or war; the project is about the memorial, monument, or building. Students need to focus on the particular topic selected. The report should include: construction dates/cost, why it was built (event that inspired the topic), who created it, features, attractions; interesting facts, symbolism, and other information (Not every report will be able to answer all the questions).

Students must complete a two page research/summary paper about their topic. Based on the research, they will complete a project and oral presentation. This is an open-ended project; students can choose to present the project in a variety of ways. The project can be a tri-fold board, scrapbook, video, model, or any other idea approved by the teacher. Project cannot be made of: Clay, Legos, Food, or prefabricated models/buildings. Multiple examples of quality project will be on display in class.
