EQUIPMENT:

SURGICAL GOWN, SURGICAL HOOD,

FACE SHIELD,

EXTENDED CUFF PATIENT GLOVES (INNER),

BOOT COVERS, N95 RESPIRATOR,

EXTENDED CUFF PATIENT GLOVES (OUTER),

BIOHAZARD WASTE RECEPTACLE.

Hydrate = water bottle

Person in scrubs Vital signs

Hydrate. Engage trained observer. Remove all personal items. Tie back long hair.

Put on scrubs and washable footwear.

Take and record vital signs.

Inspect PPE, review procedure

Inspect PPE supplies. Review donning sequence. Perform hand hygiene.

Put on boot covers

Put on standard patient care gloves.

Put on surgical gown. NOTE: ALL TIES should be properly secured with a SIMPLE BOW. Ensure

gown fits well and covers inner glove cuffs.

Put on N95 respirator. Seal mask to face ensuring

straps are not crossed and are properly located at the crown of the head and base of the neck.

Perform a fit check of the respirator by breathing deeply in and out, feeling with your hands for any air

leakage.

Put on surgical hood. Apply long cuff patient gloves over the standard patient care gloves,

covering sleeves fully to prevent exposure when providing patient care.

Apply face shield.

Trained observer verifies all PPE properly fitted.

! ! If the patient's condition warrants, additional personal protective equipment may be added to these guidelines. This may include items such as Tyvek suits, powered air purifying respirators, and aprons.
