Want a GREAT hands on project to show all that you know about Map Skills and gets you into the Fall season and Halloween Spirit?
If so, take the “Great Pumpkin” Globe Project Challenge(
Materials Needed:
- (1) Medium Sized, Round Pumpkin WITH stem
- Blue Paint
- Paintbrush
- 7 Continents (You may use the template provided to you or be as creative as you want in representing these on your globe.
- Black Marker (Sharpie)
- Sewing Pins
- String/Yarn
Steps to Complete Pumpkin Project
1. Paint entire pumpkin blue to represent a “globe”
2. Draw and Label the EQUATOR and PRIME MERIDIAN on the GLOBE in the appropriate place on the globe.
3. Draw and Label the LINES OF LATITUDE
4. Draw and Label the LINES OF LONGTITUDE
5. Color each continent GREEN and Label each one correctly.
6. Use a GLOBE to appropriately PIN the 7 Continents on your globe.
7. Label the 4 Oceans in the correct places on the globe.
8. BONUS: Use string to PIN and TRACE the general route of the VIKINGS.
Globes can be shared with the class.. Globes can be brought in when they are complete or no later than October 26, 2012.
