Ecological Succession Storyboard
Directions: Create a 12-frame ecological succession storyboard. Each frame must include 1-2 complete sentences at the top of each box explaining what is occurring in your picture. Each frame must also be colored, neat, and accurate to receive full credit.
1. In boxes 1-6, illustrate and label your ecosystem from birth to maturity. This must display the levels of primary succession in order. Make sure to label your climax community
2. In Box 7, illustrate the catastrophic event that you researched for your Impact of Earth’s Forces power point project destroying your ecosystem.
3. In Box 8, diagram and label the affect of the Catastrophic Event on your ecosystem.
4. Diagram and label secondary succession after the Catastrophic Event in Box 9-12. Make sure to label your climax community
Answer the following conclusion questions in complete thoughtful sentences on notebook paper and staple it the back of your storyboard. Number your answers 1-4.
1. Describe in detail the impact your catastrophic event had on your ecosystem. How did the event affect the entire community?
2. Compare and contrast your ecosystem the day before the catastrophic events and the day after the event.
3. Compare and contrast primary & secondary succession. State at least 3 ways they are similar and 3 ways they are different.
4. How does the variety of organisms (biodiversity) contribute to your ecosystem’s sustainability (capacity for your ecosystem to survive)?
