OVERVIEW

Effective January 1, 2019, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) will be implementing APR-DRGs for inpatient hospital services provided in the Medicaid program. These sessions are designed for hospitals to learn about the upcoming conversion and hear from LDH's vendor, 3M, about the APR-DRG methodology and associated mechanics.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

This program will: ? Provide updates relative to the Medicaid conversion to APR-DRG; ? Provide an overview of the 3M APR-DRG Grouper; and ? Help hospitals prepare for implementation by understanding potential impact, claims coding, clinical documentation improvement, claims processing system flow, and other considerations.

Kevin Bridwell, VP of Healthcare Reimbursement, LHA Kevin serves the membership through advocacy, analysis and communication on a variety of issues, including Medicaid and managed care. Prior to joining the LHA, his career included positions in hospital revenue cycle and managed care, as well as health plan network development and provider relations

Ms. Barbara Flynn, RHIA, CCS is the Vice President of Code & Comply Specialists a nation-wide HIM consulting and compliance consulting firm offering clinical coding services, coding compliance and documentation audits, CDI education and HIM management. Barbara has been an AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM/PCS trainer and Ambassador and is widely recognized as a coding and compliance expert.
