Caloric Intake Management System
Current Status: The database is still undergoing adjustment, but is done in the grand scheme of things. Texas Instruments has been contacted again, but has still not given the communication port specs. The data structure in the calculator program has been adjusted, but minor bugging problems revealed themselves in the tare function and are being corrected. Dr. Chen has recently purchased a new scale that is smaller. We are on schedule and, as long as the TI people get back to us, expect no delays.
Work Completed: The website has been finished. The protocols have been limited to a workable level. Programming of the calculator is complete, and the data structure has been adjusted to match the database. The Access database is complete, and minor adjustments are now being made through testing on Greg and Enayat, and a new scale has been selected.
Current Work: Our main focus is now implementing a scale to calculator microprocessor. We are waiting on Texas Instruments to release their communication port specs. Greg testing the database program to look for bugs, and making minor adjustments to make it more user friendly. Greg is also updating the web site on Front Page '98. Enayat has adjusted the calculator program to attach a FoodID code to each entry, and matched it to the new scale selected by Dr. Chen by converting ounces to grams for the database. Greg & Enayat have contacted an Electrical Engineering grad student for potentially reverse engineering the port specs.
Future Work: We will be focussing on the scale compatability issues. A user-friendlier, aesthetically pleasing design will also be implemented. Enayat will debug the tare program. We will be presenting all of our completed stages to Dr. Chen at the end of this week. The web page will be continually updated.
