Blaenavon was one of the foremost iron and coal towns of the British industrial revolution and was famous around the world.  Why is still so important…?

 

If you have ever wanted to learn more about the history, wildlife or geology of the area then this is your chance.  Find out about learning opportunities at this open event with the University of Wales Newport and Glamorgan & Gwent Archeological Trust which will include talks, walks, workshops and more.

Forgotten Landscapes 9km / 5½ miles / Moderate

A circular walk around Mynydd Garn-Clochdy to learn more about wild birds and the special habitat in which they live. This walk will be led by Brecon Beacons National Park Warden and naturalist Steve Smith. Bring binoculars and a packed lunch.(No Dogs please). Qualified instructors will be on hand to help children of all abilities at these mountain biking taster sessions. The first slot is for 10 - 11 year olds, and the second for 12-14 year olds.
