Food in Books & Movies--"Chef"
Thursday, June 1, 2017 ($23/person)
6:30-9pm
In these food novel classes I’ve touched on The Whistle Stop Café and Under the Tuscan sun and Heartburn and now I’ll bring you some new recipes based on the movie “Chef" by Jon Favreau. The movie is about a once-hot celebrity chef who has fallen into a rut working in a California restaurant owned and micromanaged by Dustin Hoffman. When he gets into an online feud with a food critic, Casper gets himself fired, so he decides to explore other routes, traveling down to Miami with his son to look into starting up a food truck.
Cuban Sandwiches, Tostones with Mango Salsa and Barritas de Mango (Cuban Mango Bars)
Food in Books & Movies--"The Hundred Foot Journey"

In these food novel classes I’ve touched on The Whistle Stop Café and Under the Tuscan sun and Chef and now I’ll bring you some new recipes based on the book and movie “The Hundred Foot Journey” by Richard C. Morais. The book centers around a lowly Indian chef who conquers the elite world of French haute cuisine.

Simple Brazilian cooking
Thursday, August 3, 2017 ($23/person)

Brazilian cuisine has European, African and Amerindian influences. It varies greatly by region, reflecting the country's mix of native and immigrant populations, and its continental size as well. This has created a national cuisine marked by the preservation of regional differences. Tonite I have picked out some simple favorites to create at home for a wonderful taste of Latin flair. You'll sample...
Brazilian Beef Kabobs with Chimmichurri, Feijoada (Black Bean & Meat Stew), Orange Salad and Brigadeiros (Brazil's answer to choc truffles)
Tomato Time
Thursday, September 7, 2017 ($23/person)
