Looking for a Warrior name to roleplay with? or one to use as a username? Or need names for a fanfiction? This Warrior Cats Name generator may help you find the name you're looking for! The names in the generator are taken directly from the books. This is not to say these are the only names allowed! I merely choose to put previously used words in this generator. But you can always choose your own words that have never been used in the books. There has and never will be a 'default' or 'canon' list names that are allowed for a name. The Erin's can only come up with so many names after all! Simply click the generate button and it will choose a random prefix and suffix previously used in the books to make a name! But again you can always change it up with your own words and be creative :). Every name from the Prefixes and Suffixes page is in the generator. However the generator does not include the prefixes 'Thunder', "River", "Wind", "Shadow" or "Sky" as these are names that should really only be used by the original Clan Leaders of their respective Clans. The generator is only for Clan Warrior, or perhaps Medicine Cat names, so the suffixes 'kit', 'paw' and 'star' are also not included. I have also set it up so the prefix and suffix can not match, so no Leafleaf or Splashsplash! Special Thanks to Squirrelpaw from the Warriors Wish forums who compiled this list of canon names, see the original page here: Warriors Wish forum. So click away and good luck finding a name you like! Your Warrior Cat name will appear here! Spoiler Warning ---------- This site may contain spoilers on the Warrior Cats series. Wikipedia list article For characters in the American crime-related media franchise, see List of The Warriors characters. The Warriors novel series is written by Erin Hunter. Due to the large number of characters present in the novel series, this list is divided by Clan. Characters listed under a specific arc may still play a significant role in other arcs. Important information Naming conventions In the Warriors universe, the feline characters in the five original warrior Clans (ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan, ShadowClan, and SkyClan) have names composed of two parts. Each cat's name has a prefix (Dawn, Bramble, Lion, etc.) which generally stays constant throughout their life. The name suffix varies through the character's lifespan and position within the Clan, with the bestowing of the new name being a component of the ceremonies marking these role changes. As a kitten, the character's name ends with "-kit" (Bluekit, Bramblekit, Tallkit, etc.). Upon becoming an apprentice (a warrior or medicine cat in training), "-paw" replaces "-kit" at the end of the character's name (Bluepaw, Bramblepaw, Tallpaw, etc.), and the cat is assigned an older warrior (or medicine cat) to train them. When the character completes their apprenticeship and is promoted to a full warrior or medicine cat, the suffix to their name is then changed to one chosen by the Clan leader (Bluefur, Brambleclaw, Talltail, etc.). If a cat becomes a Clan leader, they are granted the suffix "-star" at the end of their name (Bluestar, Bramblestar, Tallstar, etc.). If a leader commits a crime, they may be deemed unworthy of their name, and stripped of the "-star" suffix, and return to their warrior name. Cats may also retire and become elders, in which case their name will not change. A cat may also have their name changed in a special ceremony. This naming convention does not hold for non-Clan characters. For example, in The Tribe of Rushing Water, a cat's name is said to be the first memorable thing their mother sees after giving birth (for example, "Brook Where Small Fish Swim" and "Night of No Stars"). These names remain unchanged with one exception: when a Tribe cat becomes Teller of the Pointed Stones (a position akin to the Clan leader and medicine cat combined), their name becomes Teller of the Pointed Stones, or Stoneteller. Terminology The Clans have very specific terminology for certain things. Humans are called Twolegs, human towns are Twolegplaces, cars are monsters, roads are thunderpaths, and horse ranches are horseplaces. Cats who are not in Clans and cause the Clans no harm are called loners, cats who are not in Clans and cause the Clans harm are called rogues, and domestic housecats are called kittypets. The language of the cats is catspeak, the language of the foxes is foxspeak, and the language of the badgers is badgerspeak. Spiritual beliefs When Clan cats die, their spirits go to a place called StarClan if they were good cats who believed they were doing the right thing in life. If the cats were not good in their life, their spirits are sent to the Dark Forest (otherwise known as The Place of No Stars), a hellish type of purgatory. The spirits of cats in the Tribe go to The Tribe of Endless Hunting. All other cats who die become ghosts, and wander the land. Territories The Clans originally lived in the wilderness bordering a town called Chelford. However, when their territories were torn down by humans, the Clans moved to live around a lake called Sanctuary Lake. A mountain range separates the two.
